How to remove stubborn dark spots or pigmentation?

We all don’t like any dark spots on our face. These dark sports are also known as pigmentation and once they appear on our skin, they just stick like a cry baby. And then the real struggle starts. Covering these spots with heavy make where ever we go. But did you think what is real cause behind it? Or doing such heavy make-up is the only solution you think?

What trigger pigmentation?

Pigmentation or dark spots is caused by increase in melanin. Melanin is a natural pigment that leaves its color on the skin. There are number of factors that increase production of melanin.

  1. Exposure to sunlight

It is sunlight that triggers the production of melanin. Melanin firstly acts as natural sunscreen for skin by protecting them from harmful UV rays. But excessive exposure to the sun disrupts this natural process and leads to pigmentation.

  1. Age Factor

When the skin ages, the melanin producing cells decreases but the left-over ones increase their size and distribution. These physiological changes elaborate the increase of aging spots.

  1. Inflammation

Inflammation occurs on skin because of various reason like eczema, psoriasis. Skin injury and acne. Dark spots take place after inflammation on skin.

  1. Medications

There is certain medication that causes pigmentation. You can say it as a side effect. Medications for immunity, gastrointestinal diseases, metabolic disorders and vitamin deficiencies causes dark spots.


Now when you all have got the idea how these stubborn dark spots form their space on our skin. You should also know some preventive measures for the same.


  1. Sunscreen

Sunscreen play a major role that protects skin from the harmful ultraviolet rays. Sunscreen with SPF 50  will seeps into skin quickly and don’t let the formation of dark spots on your beautiful skin.


  1. Cover with a hat

If you are mostly out in the sun, it is recommended that you should cover your face with a hat or wear a stole so as to protect skin from the excessive sun exposure. Other than hat you can also switch to some home remedies like applying aloe vera, yogurt, orange peel or calamine lotion.


  1. Use vitamin C enriched cream

Vitamin C have several benefits for the skin. It not only boosts collagen but also lightens dark circles, prevents wrinkles, reduces dark spots, treats hyper pigmentation and also defend against damage from the sun.
