5 ways to use Aloe Vera for healthy glowing skin

Aloe vera is perhaps one of the most widely used herbal remedies for topical skin conditions. This is because the gel-like components of the plant are known to heal the skin from a variety of minor ailments. When you skip on the sunscreen (unintentionally, of course) and end up with a monster sunburn, chances are you turn to aloe vera gel to soothe your scorched skin. Because it brings so much relief during the healing process—almost like a gooey superhero—you’ve probably wondered what else aloe vera gel is capable of. Well, in conventional medicine, aloe vera is used as a topical gel, which is made from the gel-like substance inside the plant’s leaves. It’s also possible to use the leaves directly by breaking them apart and pressing out the gel. Let’s talk about some easy DIY aloe vera gel serums, creams and masks for a healthy glowing skin.

 

  1. Blemish Repair Serum

If your skin is looking dull and discolored, aloe vera is an excellent ingredient to reduce blemishes. Take 1 tsp of aloe vera gel and mix it with 2 tsp mashed papaya and 1 tsp full fat cream milk. Massage this daily into the skin for about 10 minutes and let the skin drink its goodness. You will notice that your skin tone will start to even out and the skin will look brighter.

 

  1. Soothe those nasty sunburns

Due to its natural cooling properties, aloe vera is a great product for soothing sunburns. It is anti-inflammatory in nature with mineral and antioxidant content that accelerates the process of healing. If you have a stinging sunburn, apply a generous dose of aloe vera gel and it will calm the skin. It is a handy way to cure redness and rashes caused by sun burnt skin. Natural Aloe Vera Gel contains pure aloe vera extracts and can be used for sunburns and cuts.

 

  1. Anti-ageing aloe vera mask

Mask 1: Aloe vera has anti-aging properties. It can reduce wrinkles and prevent your skin from aging. Aloe vera can nourish your skin and tighten it and reduce the pimples and dullness and hydrate it. Take 1 tbsp gram flour and ½ tbsp turmeric and 2 tbsp aloe vera gel mix it with some clay and apply on your clean skin. Wash with cold water for added glow.

Mask 2:  Take 1 egg white, beaten till peaks, 3 tsp aloe vera gel, 2 tsp china clay, 2 tsp gumbandi almond paste and 1 tsp fresh cream. Mix all the ingredients well and apply it on clean skin. Allow it to dry completely and then wash your face with ice water.

 

  1. Shaving cream

The aloe vera can be a natural substitute for shaving creams or gels. It is gentle on the skin and will give a smooth shave while also moisturizing the skin. The antiseptic properties also make it great for nicks and cuts while shaving. You can Take 3tbsp of fresh aloe vera gel or buy the ones available in the market, mix it with your choice or essential oil. Apply the mixture of aloe vera gel and essential oil generously on your legs before shaving. Then gently shave your legs and wash with luke warm water. Pat dry your legs and apply the same mixture on your legs and gently massage them until its completely absorbed by your skin. This deep nourishment session will make your skin soft and supple within no time.

 

  1. Aloe vera gel Make up remover and toner

It makes for an affordable makeup remover. you can use aloe vera gel to remove makeup and the best part is that it soothes your skin and is great on sensitive skin. As it is, makeup contains tons of chemicals that cake your skin. Swap your regular makeup remover with a natural one! This versatile gel can double up as your makeup remover and toner. It’s natural, gentle and can be used on sensitive skin too. Use it to remove eye makeup without any fear. Just take a dollop of aloe vera gel on a cotton pad and wipe away makeup from the skin. You can opt for fresh aloe vera Juice/gel missed with some olive oil as a makeup remover or go for any other essential oil of your choice. If you want to use it as a toner then just mix some aloe vera juice and cucumber juice, massage some of it on your face and let it dry or dip it with cotton wipes and swipe it all over your face and neck, Transfer the mixture into a bottle and refrigerate to use for a longer period of time.

A nourishing cream at night does wonders to the skin. It also ensures that your skin has an even complexion along with having a finer skin texture. Night cream supplies moisture to the dry parts of your face while soothing it. Rejuvenate and repair your skin with this DIY cream at home with a shelf life of one week. You’ll need 50 gm beeswax, 20 ml olive oil, 2 tsp aloe vera gel, 2-3 drops geranium essential oil. Take a double boiler, melt the beeswax and stir in aloe vera gel and olive oil, and mix well. Remove from the flame and let it stand and cool. Add the essential oil and when it acquires a semi solid state, pour into a sterilized glass jar and store in the fridge. This can be stored very safely up-to a week if not 10 days. Use this cream daily at night for a younger and suppler looking skin.
